How to Access Citrix from Windows

1.      Go to the following website:  http://citrix.med.miami.edu

2.      You will see the following web page:

Note the gold lock icon at the bottom right of the screen.  This means that all data within this site is securely encrypted.

3.      The first time you enter this site, you will notice at the bottom of the page the “Citrix® Nfuse Message Center”.  You will receive a message explaining that you do not have the Citrix ICA Client installed:

 4.      Click on the link to install the Citrix ICA Web Client:

Citrix ICA Web Client for 32-bit Windows

5.      You will see the following pop up window.  Click the Run button.

6.      The program will start loading and you'll be prompted to run the program.

 7.      If you get any other security warning messages, click Run to continue.

8.      When the installation is complete, you will be prompted to continue.  Click on “Yes”.

9.      A “Citrix License Agreement” window will open.  Click on “Yes” after reading the license agreement.

10.     When the installation is complete, you will be prompted to restart your web browser.

11.     Click on “OK”, close your web browser and reopen it.

12.     Go back to the main Citrix web page:  http://citrix.med.miami.edu.  Notice the Message Center area does not tell you that you need to install the client.

13.     Now you are ready to login.  Enter your login credentials.  Your Username and Password are the same ones used for your e-mail and domain login.  They are also case sensitive.  Enter “medical” for the Domain and click on “Log In”.

14.     Once you login, you will see your personalized applications screen.  You will have different icons for each application that is published for you…

15.     You can access your applications now….

16.    Please note, the applications on Citrix are running on a remote server.  When attempting to save files to your local drives, they will appear with a dollar sign (e.g. C$, D$, E$, etc…) and say on 'Client' but they will be mapped to a different drive (T, U, V, etc…).

17.    Also note that you'll see the following pop up window when you attempt to save files to your local hard drives:

18.     Select the option that is most appropriate for you.  Since Citrix is a trusted and a secured application, we recommend you select “Full Access” and choose “Never ask me again for any application”.  Click “Ok” when done.

Home users:  Although you can access this site through a modem dial-up connection of 28.8kbps or more, we recommend that you use a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) or Cable Modem connection with a local service provider in your area.
